Finwin Sports Rugby Head Coach Mushtaq Jiffry, was one of the best wing-three-quarters from Sri Lanka that torched the touch lines at almost every Rugby Sevens stadium in Sri Lanka and around Asia. 

He captained his Alma Mater, Zahira College, Colombo in the year 1997 and since then represented a top domestic club in the Sri Lankan Rugby circuit, CR & FC for almost a decade. He was a mere teenager when he was first called to play for Sri Lanka in the ‘98 Commonwealth Games where he battled head-to-head playing against the great All Black, Jonah Lomu.

Mushtaq also represented his mother country in the IRB World 7s series’ in Dubai and South Africa in 2004 whilst also representing the National XV’s outfit at the Asian 5 Nations tournaments during his peak performance years. 

After retiring from pro-rugby in 2012, Mustaq was involved in both coaching and refereeing in the Sri Lankan schools’ and club rugby arenas. Mustaq eventually became a household name in the rugby fraternity as a highly celebrated and successful coach with tactful plans and great insight. 

A few highlights of his coaching career would include being the National U18 7’s Coach for Sri Lanka on two occasions, taking up duties as Backs Coach of CR & FC, being a Rugby Consultant for more than a few top tier schools, and the list goes on.
